Ferrari GTC4 Lusso

When it debuted in 2011, the Ferrari FF was groundbreaking.
Finally, Ferrari had offered a 4-seater beauty that could be
driven anywhere any time. You could even drive it to your local
grocery store… that is if you can afford it in the first place!

Though the model was revolutionary, it was not as visually
impressive as other Ferraris and five years later it looks
older than the rest of the lineup. However, this is set to be a
thing of the past as the automaker is set to offer a revised
model and with it a new name. The model will no longer be known
as the FF; rather Ferrari has renamed the model the “GTC4
Lusso”.

For those wondering where Ferrari got this weird name, the
automaker is quick to point out past models like the 330 GTC,
the 250 Berlinetta Lusso and the 330 GT which it says serve as
inspiration for the new name. Far from what many people think,
the 4 on the nametag doesn’t point to the vehicle’s all
wheel-drive system, it denotes the number of seats offered in
the cabin.

The automaker further pointed out that the car is targeted to
those clients who crave for a pleasurable driving anywhere
anytime alone or with a number of companions or family which is
not possible with other 2-seater Ferraris. The automaker says
the car is ideal for short trips or long drives whether in the
city or on snowy mountain roads.

Ferrari GTC4 Lusso Exterior

The Ferrari GTC4 Lusso still looks more conservative compared
to other Ferrari models. However, the automaker has redesigned
the rear which was heavily criticized. The new rear fascia
looks sleeker, sportier and more refined.

It features 4 round taillights (the FF had only a single lamp
on each side) which look like other older Ferraris. The design
cues of the model borrow from recent Ferrari models. The new
headlights are borrowed from the Ferrari 488
GTB.

At the front, the vehicle features a redesigned grille which is
integrated with air intakes.  Other features include air
vents on wings similar to those on the 330 GTC, a revised
triple -fence rear diffuser as well as a roof-mounted rear
spoiler.

Overall, the GTC4 Lusso is a very stylish -looking wagon.

Ferrari GTC4 Lusso Interior

Inside, there are a couple of significant changes. They include
the updated infotainment system which packs a 10.25-inch
display screen.  The infotainment system is compatible
with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

However, people who buy these types of cars are more focused on
getting the thrill from driving rather messing up with their
phones once they are on the wheels of this speed monster. Its
steering wheel has been shrunk. This was made possible by
reducing the size of the airbag.

The control layout has also been redesigned to improve its
usability. The vehicle offers generous wraparound seats that
provide excellent comfort and sufficient legroom to all
passengers. Ferrari claims that the cabin gives occupants the
ambience of a luxurious living space.

Engine Specs and performance

The model has not only been restyled on the outside, under the
hood, things get even more exciting. The Lusso is more powerful
and faster.

The Ferrari GTC4 Lusso is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3
L, V-12 engine. The engine has been tweaked to produce 680 hp
and 514 lb-ft of torque. This is an improvement from the FF
engine which produced 651 hp and 504 lb-ft of torque. These
numbers fall short of threatening the F12
Berlinetta whose engine is rated at 730 hp and 509 lb-ft of
torque.

The engine is offered with the automakers one and only AWD
system which Ferrari has now integrated with a 4-wheel steering
similar to the one on the Ferrari
F12 TdF. The system is dubbed the “4RM-S. This new system
works together with adaptive magnetic dampers, electronic
differential and Ferrari’s 4th generation Slip Side
Control. The automaker didn’t mention the transmission but we
believe the vehicle is likely to retain the 7-speed DCT which
does the job on the FF.

The engine powers the GTC4 Lusso to dash from 0-60 mph in 3.4
seconds. It has a top speed of 208 mph.
